Dante's Divine Comedy in a stunning, one-of-a-kind edition:

This unprecedented project was created to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the great Italian poet's death. Dante's Divina Commedia, written in the early 14th century, is one of the great texts of world literature. The three parts of the work describe a journey through the realms of the afterlife - Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso - and each ends with the word "stelle" (stars). 

The extraordinary plan of the publisher Scripta Maneant was to send Dante's poem to the stars that he wrote about. Two copies of the entire Divine Comedy, micro-inscribed on sheets of a titanium and gold alloy, were sent up on a Soyuz mission to the International Space Station. One was released in space to float in the heavens among the stars. The other was signed by the astronauts and returned to earth. A facsimile of the second sheet is part of a traditional large format printed version of the Comedy and sold as a limited numbered edition of 700 copies, for the number of years since Dante died. 

This facsimile adds spice to this massive volume, bound in leather and with ornamental gilt edges, that comes in a Plexiglas slipcase. The edition of the Commedia contains, in addition to Dante's text, the illustrations of the Italian artist Federico Zuccari and, through the commentaries of proven specialists, sheds light on Dante's work.

Includes a facsimile of the micro script edition of Dante's Commedia floating in the Universe signed by the astronauts, edition of 700, numbered and certified.
